Promoting Disability Football and Disability Sport was something I was incredibly determined to acheive as a teenager and still am now. As a coach for Aberystwyth Disability Team I was constatntly looking at 'the possibility' rather than just accepting the current situation.
Most of the local public had little to no knowledge of a disability football team and the number of players involved was incredibly low meaning training sessions weren't as enjoyable and at times no team could be taken to tournaments.
In my season as manager I was determined to improve those numbers and set about getting help from not just the local public... but a much wider scale!
As a result, myself and fellow coach would appear on National Radio talking about the need for improvement and support, the club featured twice on national television which included being named 'Club of the Week', various celebrities sharing the then twitter page and wishing the team support and a much larger amount of local media content including regular reports and an updated website.
But importantly, the number of players at the club had increased meaning we could take more to tournaments, have improved training sessions and bring people with disabilities who just love football together.
